Musical theater performance “Khetanes – Together”

10 performances of the musical theater show “Khetanes – Together” will be organized between September 27 and October 1, 2023 at the Studio Hall of the Constanța State Theater (Str. Ion Lahovari no. 2A). The series of events takes place within the homonymous project organized by the Georgian Cultural Association, financed by the SEE Grants 2014-2021 within the RO-CULTURE Program, the call “Supporting cultural initiatives about the Roma minority”.

Performance schedule:

Premiere – Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 7:00 p.m

Performances: 28, 29, 30 September 2023, 16:00 and 19:00, 1 October 2023.

The epic thread of the show involves the existence of 20 characters, 10 of which are performed by representatives of the Roma community from Constanța county selected following a casting call organized in June 2023 and trained in an introductory course in dramatic art and musical art held in June and July 2023. The musical theater show promotes reference elements of Roma culture: traditions, customs, crafts, traditional clothing, language. The script was written based on the documentation provided by a historian and an ethnographer and is colored with musical fragments and traditional dances as well as lines and dialogues carried out in the language of the Roma community.

Public access to the performances will be free, subject to availability. The show is made with the support of the Constanța State Theatre.
